'Republican National Committee Co-Chairman Jan Larimer criticized President Obama Friday for his White House meeting with
a professor and a police officer, saying the president needs to focus on more important issues. "We are at war and Barack
Obama is talking about beer in the White House," Larimer said at the RNC's Summer Meeting. "And it is wrong. It
is not what our country is about." Larimer was referring to Obama's "happy hour" at the White House a day earlier....'
So, 'we' are about occupying and killing foreigners, and not about drinking beer? Is that GOP leader Larimer's claim?
Is war what 'conservatism' is all about today? Apparently. Meanwhile having a beer is something to be condemned according
to this Republican leader. This is the sort of stupid partisan games that turns people against politics and Washington, DC
in general. The South doesn't need idiot partisans like Larimer any more than we need Obama. What we need is liberty... from
both these gangs in the imperial capital.
Drink up, Obama... and please quit killing people.
'Recorded Sunday, February 29, 2004 at the Ludwig von Mises Institute; Auburn, Alabama. [1:05::21]'
The word 'liberalism' has long been hijacked by leftist collectivists in DC's Empire. Occasionally, you will
see the designation 'classical liberal' in reference to the Jeffersonians (the 'good guys' as opposed to the Hamiltonians)
of early American history. However, in general the word has been grossly tainted. What did 'liberalism' really mean and what
is its true tradition? These are among the questions that the great Ralph Raico talks about in this highly enjoyable piece. I highly recommend it to y'all. Check it out.
Are Southron nationalists
really 'conservatives'? In my view - not at all. We don't want to conserve the tyrannical Empire we live under today with
its tradition of genocide, imperialism, restrictions of natural rights and interventionism at all levels of society. We want
to be free, do we not? I dare y'all to give this piece a fair chance and to consider the words 'liberal' and 'conservative'
in a new light... I dare y'all!
Alabama thug cop pepper-sprays and tasers mentally-disabled deaf man
'A Mobile police officer who was involved in an incident where pepper spray and a Taser were used on
a deaf and mentally disabled man has been put on administrative duty.'
I am at a loss of words. This is outrageous.
Calling this thug an 'officer' is too respectful for this criminal. Will the cops pepper-spray and tase you the next
time you are using a public bathroom? I guess this goes to show that it's entirely possible.
'Today, Europe is the venue of both integration and separatist processes. Experts have calculated that
in the 21st century more than 10 new states may emerge in Europe.'
Informative article for those interested
in secessionist movements outside of the Federal Empire. The millions of secessionists in Dixie are certainly not alone in
the world.
'People can now find John A. Beasley. Cannons weren't fired and taps wasn't played in this part of Hutchinson's
Eastside Cemetery where, for nearly 100 years, the remains of the Confederate soldier rested under an unmarked patch of Bermuda
grass. Distant cousin Jim Converse, Olathe, along with Heath Roland, a member of a Kansas City branch of the Sons of Confederate
Veterans, gave a simple salute after setting his grave, Converse saying another Civil War soldier has gotten the honor he
deserves.'
Are you ready to step forward and promote liberty and independence for Dixie? More information will be coming
in the next couple months, but there are plans being made to organise demonstrations and civil disobedience in order
to kick off a general campaign to liberate us from the Feds. It's past time to be free, wouldn't you agree? Check back in
with us often for lots more information on this.
Greenwood, MS to host State meeting of Daughters of Confederacy
'The United Daughters of the Confederacy will hold its annual state convention in Greenwood in September.
The event will be Sept. 18-20 at the Confederate Memorial Building. Organizers expect 125 women to attend the state convention,
which precedes the national convention in Biloxi in November. Those who can trace their lineage to soldiers who fought for
the Confederacy may join.'
Feds enlisting citizens to 'fight terrorism' by reporting on their neighbours
'A top US domestic security chief announced Wednesday a strategy to make ordinary citizens the first line of defense against
an increasingly multi-faceted terrorist threat. "For too long, we've treated the public as a liability to
be protected rather than an asset in our nation's collective security," Janet Napolitano, secretary
of the Department of Homeland Security, said in a speech in New York.'
More and
more like Nazi Germany or the USSR (you take your pick) every day with the Feds pitting citizens against citizens in spying
and reporting on your family and neighbours. Sickening.
'Sen. David Vitter of Louisiana slammed fellow Republican George Voinovich Wednesday for saying the
GOP's problems stem from the fact that it is "being taken over by Southerners," calling the Ohio senator "a
moderate, really wishy-washy." "I'm on the side of conservatives getting back to core conservative values,"
Vitter told the Washington Times. "There are a lot of us from the South who hold those values, which I think the party
is supposed to be about. We strayed from them in the past few years, and that's why we performed so badly in the national
elections."'
While I don't believe it is possible (and have no desire) to reform the Imperial system
that occupies us and kills people with our stolen money, this was a nice comment by Senator Vitter. Always nice to see folks
stand up for the South!
Confederate flag raised in protest... in Brooklyn, NY
'Will the south of Brooklyn rise again? Judging by the looks of the Confederate flag hanging from the
terrace on the southern side of the Bay Ridge Towers, it's certainly a possibility.'
The South Florida Saltine delivers his first South Florida Fishing Report for SLMN! Where they're biting; what's working; what's not working; and what's

Confederate veterans' group OKs Jonesborough boycott
'The Sons of Confederate Veterans
has approved a resolution calling for an economic boycott of the town of Jonesborough. The group, which is comprised of about
32,000 descendents of Confederate soldiers, held its annual convention last week in Hot Springs, Ark. A resolution drafted and submitted by the Southern Legal Resource Center was introduced
during the meeting. SLRC is a nonprofit organization based in Black Mountain, N.C., which advocates for civil rights in connection
with Southern heritage issues.'
'The Beaufort County Sons of Confederate Veterans meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the Harmony Masonic Lodge
at 2710 Depot Road, Beaufort. John Bigham, former curator of Education and Special Projects of the Confederate Relic Room
and Military Museum in Columbia will speak. The program will include a slideshow titled "50 Images of S.C. Confederates."
Meetings are open to the public and guests....'
'It was 10:30 on a Saturday morning at Café des Amis in Breaux Bridge. Breakfast may have been
winding down at this small-town eatery in the heart of Cajun country, but the music and dancing were in full swing. In fact,
the place had been hopping for two hours, with barely a moment's break in its bouncing beat. Spoons clinked in coffee cups,
and waitresses carrying platters of eggs wove among dancers.'
'The property was owned by the Shriver family, which was split between the two sides during the Civil
War, according to Townsend. The Shrivers who lived on the Homestead were loyal to the North, while the ones who lived in the
house across the road were Southern sympathizers. On June 29, 1863, both Confederate and Union troops camped out at the site,
missing each other by about an hour, Townsend said.'
'Want to be a "cyber warrior" defending your country? If so, there are plenty
of well-paid jobs available. Leading defense contractor Raytheon is looking for a few good men and women — a couple
of hundred of them, in fact — to patrol the front lines of America's cybersecurity.'
'Defending your
country', huh? Just like the Federal troops killing people with drones across the Middle East are 'defending their country',
right? Now going through people's personal information and spying on everyone is somehow 'defending your country' too. What
a joke! Well, the Empire marches on and our liberties continue to be spat upon. Notice too in the news story that all the
locations for these spy sites are in Dixie and that they clearly state they are serving the Feds.
Good news from a court in the Palmetto State - that is, if you believe in liberty and personal responsibility.
If, on the other hand, you are a statist or 'law enforcement agent' this will probably strike a negative cord.... all this
freedom and stuff. We don't want any of that, right?
Let's get this right: the government reserves the right to force
you into their service at the age of 18 and send you off to die in order to occupy and kill foreigners for DC's vast
empire around the world.... yet consuming alcohol is somehow too dangerous, huh? The government can steal from you (taxation),
miseducate you (government 'education') and even send you off to die abroad (conscription)... but you can't consume
alcohol. That's freedom, right? Wow, I certainly feel free.
'A court ruling today suggests
state law contains nothing that would make it illegal for many young people to own or use alcoholic beverages. "This
magistrate in Richland County has concluded that the statute that criminalizes possession and consumption is unconstitutional,"
says attorney Joe McCulloch.'
Why aren’t churches, historical groups joining this fight?
'Recently I reviewed the educational Confederate Flag Brochure. What a superb job! This is a professional,
high quality brochure designed to teach the reader about the true history of the state’s rights issues of the Confederacy
as well as a thorough history of the four major patriotic Confederate Flags.'
Perry raises possibility of states' rights showdown with White House over healthcare
'Gov. Rick Perry, raising the specter of a showdown with the Obama administration, suggested Thursday
that he would consider invoking states’ rights protections under the 10th Amendment to resist the president’s
healthcare plan, which he said would be "disastrous" for Texas.... "I think you’ll hear states and governors
standing up and saying 'no’ to this type of encroachment on the states with their healthcare," Perry said.'
'I recently decided that I am going to pay for as many things as is practicable using only two-dollar
bills. I will now attempt to explain my purely symbolic gesture and the reactions I have received so far.'
Neat idea
to spread the word about the evil Federal Reserve.
'It is important to realize that the separatist and self-determination movement is actually the most
important and most widespread political force in the world today and has been for the last half-century, during which time
the United Nations, for example, has grown from 51 nations in 1945 to 193 nations in 2009. The break-up of the Soviet Union
and the former Yugoslavia are recent manifestations of the separatist trend, and there are separatist movements in more than
two dozen countries at this time, including such well-known ones as in Catalonia, Scotland, Wales, Lapland, Sardinia, Sicily,
Sudan, Congo, Kashmir, Chechnya, Kurdistan, Quebec, British Columbia, Mexico, and Puerto Rico.'
Government school board upholds ban on Confederate flag brochure
'Former Superintendent of Schools Bill AuMiller is three weeks into retirement, but his decision to
ban the distribution of Confederate flag brochures at Allegany County middle schools still stands.'
Obama omits reference to 'public' aspect of his medical take-over
'President Barack Obama on Wednesday dropped a direct reference to a government-funded public health
insurance option when describing the benefits of health care reform he is pushing. Until now, Obama has consistently touted
the government-funded public option as competition for private insurers in expanding access to health coverage.'
The Warlord is now trying to fool the people by just leaving out the fact that the Feds are going to be running the medical
field if he gets his way. Will this work? We'll see. His numbers are certainly going down due to his actions on this issue.
Are you dying to serve the Empire? Ready to occupy and kill people in distant lands that pose no threat to our safety? Well, the Empire
is looking for you then.
'The US army is to recruit
22,000 new soldiers to help it fight the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the defence secretary has said. The increased troop
strength, which Robert Gates said would only be for three years, will raise the total number of soldiers to 569,000.'
'Local historian and author W. Eric Emerson is stepping down as executive director of the Charleston
Library Society to take the helm of the agency that holds and preserves every official South Carolina document from the constitution
to the Ordinance of Secession.'
Dispute over Confederate memorial bricks continues
'Despite a change that allows Confederate Civil War veterans to be memorialized in a Jonesborough park,
some say it isn't enough. The bricks denote only that the soldiers were in the Civil War -- not whether they fought for the
Union or the Confederacy.'
'There would be very stiff competition indeed for the literary award of "Most Absurd Lies and Myths
About Lincoln"... there is a new entry to the field: an article from the February 9, 2009 issue of Newsmax.com by Newt
Gingrich and William Forstchen entitled "What Would He Say to Us Today?" It seems as though every time Newt Gingrich,
who never served in the military himself, begins making the case for sending other peoples’ children off to die in another
unnecessary war, he starts quoting Lincoln.....'
'As libertarians, we favor peace, property rights, and voluntary interaction based on contract and consent.
We are therefore against the invasion or trespass of property rights; we recognize such actions as crimes and those carrying
them out as criminals. It does not matter whether the person committing a crime is a thief wearing a ski mask or wearing a
uniform of a county with a patch stamp on the shoulder.'
'China already has a national law against secession, though there are no similar regional laws. Xinjiang
is working on legislation that would "provide legal assistance to Xinjiang's anti-secession struggle and crackdown on
violence and terrorism...."'
Notice the similarities between the Feds and the communists in China? Both
have repressive regimes that kill people and occupy foreign lands - the Feds primarily in the Middle East and the Chinese
at home and in neighbouring lands (Tibet, for example). And secession and liberty terrifies them both.
Miami-Dade County officials wade into flag battle, turn to Feds
'The Miami-Dade County Community Relations Board has waded into the ongoing dispute over the one-time
appearance of the Confederate battle flag at last year's Veterans' Day parade in downtown Homestead. In a press release issued
by county officials Wednesday, the board said it would join the U.S. Department of Justice's Community Relations Service in
convening mediation sessions ``to try and resolve some of the issues that have developed between area residents and the Homestead
city government.'''
So, the county is turning to the Feds for help. That's not good. The Feds never have anything
positive to offer and no council should ever be sought from them. They are leeches and occupiers - not people we want involved
in any of our affairs.
'The House Intelligence Committee will investigate whether any laws were broken when the CIA concealed
a now-canceled counterterrorism program from Congress, the panel's chairman announced Friday.'
More secrecy,
more corruption and more law-breaking from the Feds. What's new!

in America through the hard work of the League of the South. Come find out more about the organization that made secession
popular again!

Hillary Clinton says the CFR tells the Feds what to do
'...I am delighted to be here in these new headquarters. I have been often to, I guess, the mother ship in New York City,
but it’s good to have an outpost of the Council right here down the street from the State Department. We get a lot of
advice from the Council, so this will mean I won’t have as far to go to be told what we should be doing and how we should
think about the future.'
'When Ariel Brown was offered a chance to transcribe the correspondence of the first family of the Confederacy,
the history major with a keen interest in the South seized the opportunity. Then the student from historically black North
Carolina Central University in Durham let her colleagues know she would be doing her research at The Museum of the Confederacy.'
'Six civilians were killed in an international military airstrike in southern Afghanistan, while five
Afghan security forces, three private guards and 23 insurgents were killed in incidents elsewhere in the country, officials
said Thursday.'
Again, why the devil are the Feds over there? This is another pointless occupation (being
carried out with our tax money, costing the lives of our young people, creating enemies where once there was none and taking
a horrible toll on the ordinary people of that distant land) that needs to end. Nothing good is coming of this stupid war.
The anti-liberty, pro-Keynesian 'The Economist' magazine interviews Ron Paul about his attempts to audit
and ultimately get rid of the Federal Reserve. Naturally, they don't like his ideas of fiscal responsibility and hard-money.
Their commentary at the end reveals their Keynesian bias and misunderstanding of economics.
'The US federal deficit has ballooned past the $1 trillion mark for the first time and could grow to
nearly $2 trillion by the end of the budget year. Massive government spending to help ease the recession combined with a sharp
decline in tax revenues and the cost of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have caused the deficit to skyrocket.... The Obama
administration now forecasts that the deficit for the budget year will reach $1.84 trillion by end September, intensifying
fears over interest rates, inflation and the strength of the dollar.'
'A tangy peach barbecue sauce flavors this delicious pork tenderloin. Serve this pork tenderloin with
a rice dish and tossed salad or sliced fresh tomatoes and cucumbers.'
'Ayman al-Zawahiri, al-Qaeda's second-in-command, has urged Pakistanis to rise up against US forces,
which he said had occupied their country.'
Here is what the Feds do best - create enemies around the globe
with our tax money. Why the devil are the Feds in Pakistan? And how many more countries do they plan on bombing and occupying?
This is how terrorism is created - by building international hatred amongst people who feel they have no other means to strike
back at their invaders and occupiers. The whole thing is terribly sad and destructive.
Re-newed call to ban Confederate flag in government schools
'A re-newed call for a system wide ban of the Confederate flag and all other symbols depicting racism
was the focus of constituents who addressed the Allegany County Board of Education Tuesday night. The issue of the flag has
been one of controversy in recent years with several race related incidents occurring at Fort Hill High School. While those
incidents eventually led to Principal Steve Lewis issueing a ban of the flag at that school, the board rejected numerous citizens
requests to implement a system wide ban.'
This very strong attempt by enemies of Southron culture to
forcibly remove this important symbol of our identity from government schools is another reason we need to get all our children
out of the government miseducation system. We don't need their indoctrination and restrictions on liberty.
Are the Feds treading down the same path as the former USSR - another great empire which destroyed itself
with its failed economic policies at home while trying to occupy Afghanistan abroad? Sure looks like that is exactly what
the Feds are doing to.
'It was George Bush, after all, who declared on July 4, 2002, that in "Afghanistan
we defeated the Taliban". That was never a true statement. And, as the Obama Administration takes ownership of this war
nearly eight years since it first began, there is mounting evidence to suggest the opposite may be true.'
'It would seem that Tennessee lawmakers are not merely interested in wresting control of their state
from the over-reaching usurpations of the federal government in Washington, but also seek to work with other State Legislatures
in the work of restricting the abusive power of Washington bureaucrats. What makes this passage of HR0108 interesting is the
proposed use of “a committee of conference and correspondence” between the states. These steps fall directly into
the footprints left by the Patriots of the American Revolution. Their very first steps to providing a government “of
the People, by the People and for the People” were to establish committees of correspondence, whereby the Revolutionaries
corresponded with one another in order to determine how best to take control of their own destiny, their own liberty. This
strategy culminated in a meeting in Philadelphia in April of 1774. The rest, as they say, is history.'
Augusta, GA approves $50,000 for Confederate Powder Works Chimney repairs
'Augusta's finance committee signed off on more than $50,000 to repair a local historic landmark. The
money will help repair the Confederate Powder Works Chimney. Repairing the 156 foot structure will cost more than $200,000.
Private donations will offset the costs. City leaders call the work long over due. "The colonel who built the Powder
Works came to city council and said if you ever take the buildings down leave the chimney as a monument for the fallen dead,"
said Deyton Sherrouse who is director of the Augusta Canal Authority. "It has been standing there since 1865 with no
work done to it."'
Germans flock to gold bars vending machine at Frankfurt airport
'The prototype gold-dispenser has been installed in Frankfurt airport and today there was a queue of
passengers mulling over whether to buy one gramme, 5 grammes or ten grammes of gold. The one-gramme bar was available for
€30 (£25). Other options — rather like a high-end coffee machine it has five selections — included
a Maple Leaf Five Canadian dollar coin and a Kangaroo Fifteen Australian dollar coin. Both represent about one tenth of an
ounce of gold....'
Awesome. When are these coming to Dixie? Sounds like the easiest way I've ever heard of to
trade in your fiat currency for some real money.
'Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor may not have been born in Puerto Rico, but friends and relatives
say she is Puerto Rican through and through.'
At the risk of being blasted as a 'narrow-minded racist' (which
is the standard tactic of the Left when faced with someone challenging their politics), why is Judge Sotomayor being
chosen for a spot on the Federal Supreme Court? Is she actually the best judge in all the 50 States (and various colonial
dependencies - such as Puerto Rico) or is this another example of Obama pandering to his base with more racial
politics? Is the goal to have the best possible constitutional judges or to have a court composed of one of each of the various
races and nationalities currently under the dominion of the US regime? Surely to even raise this question indicates that I
must be a Nazi, right? lol
'It is 2084, 20 years after the second al-Qaeda attack on the United States, which killed over 100 times
as many as the first. The nuclearized areas in the eastern and central U.S. that were struck have shown some signs of recovery
– the administration of President Jeremy Lin has hopefully referred to these as "green shoots" – but
many scientists outside the government are less optimistic. They say these areas will be uninhabitable for at least three
generations, perhaps more. In the chaos that followed 11/11, then-president Carolyn Anders’ declaration of martial law
– prefigured by the USA PATRIOT Act and subsequent legislation overwhelmingly passed by Congress – was largely
ignored, as the federal government nearly ceased functioning and local authorities took operational control of police, military,
and emergency functions.'
Judge Napolitano and Dr Rand Paul on government medicine (video)
Dr Rand Paul (Ron Paul's son) joins host Judge Napolitano on the Glenn Beck show to discuss the Federal
Government's plans to completely take over health-care.
'A new study commissioned by the Pentagon and the Department of Veterans Affairs recommends a complete
ban on tobacco, which would end tobacco sales on military bases and prohibit smoking by anyone in uniform, not even combat
troops in the thick of battle.'
Yet another reason not to join the Feds' military - in addition to having
to occupy foreign lands for the gang of thieves in Washington, DC there is also the total lack of freedom demonstrated in
this news story.
'The former speaker of the US House of Representatives has said that the
US should "sabotage" Iran's oil and gas infrastructure as part of its efforts to bring down the government. In an
interview with Al Jazeera's Avi Lewis for the Fault Lines programme, Republican Newt Gingrich said targeting Iran's refinery
would spark an economic crisis that would destabilise the government in Tehran. He said the US should "use covert operations… to create a gasoline-led crisis to try and replace
the regime".'
Newt the warmonger is at it again! Causing chaos and aggressing against people on the other
side of the planet who have done us no harm is not the way to achieve peace, prosperity and liberty. Why does anyone listen
to clueless Newt?
Below is a picture of government schools from before the Second World War indoctrinating young people. Notice
how they are pledging with arms raised in the Roman salute which Hitler employed for the Third Reich. All hail the evil Empire, huh? No thanks, Feds. Keep your flags, your salutes
and your pledges.
'More than 200 young baseball players marched onto the fields at the Washington County baseball complex
Friday afternoon with one thing on their minds. Baseball. The opening ceremonies were reminiscent of the Olympics and excitement
was in the air as the umpires cried “play ball” and the post-season began.'
Bringing the fight back to a 'Civil War' battlefield in Fort Smith
'As they did 145 years ago, Confederate soldiers routed Union cavalry at the Battle of Massard Prairie....
On July 11 and 12, more than 30 Civil War re-enactors from the 15th Arkansas Volunteer Infantry Regiment and 22nd Arkansas
Volunteers were joined by members of the 26th Texas Confederate Volunteers to set up campgrounds and provide a reenactment
program.'
Clueless Jeb Bush doesn't know if Obama is a socialist
The other idiot in the Bush family, Jeb Bush, recently would not give a straight answer when asked about
the nature of Obama's politics. Should a man who can not even define the relatively simple and widely understood word 'socialism'
be in any position of authority? Notice too that Bush's concerns are strictly for the GOP, not for any ideology of the
betterment of the people he and his ilk systematically loot.
'Bush would not answer the question of whether
he agreed with the assessment of some congressional Republicans that the president is a socialist. "I don't know. Define
socialism for me," he told Esquire magazine. "It's a word… I believe he's a collectivist. He believes that
through collective action, through government, you can solve more problems." He added that he believed the word "socialism"
was a pejorative, and "didn't help" the GOP make its case.'
Board still has made no ruling on Confederate flag brochure
'As president of the Cumberland Historic Cemetery Organization,
I feel quite compelled to defend the historic patriotic organization and its members that I love so well. In a recent editorial
that I submitted to the Times-News, I informed readers of a flip-flop position given by former Board of Education Superintendent,
Dr. William AuMiller, concerning our educational Confederate Flag Brochure.'
'Civil disobedience is the active refusal to obey certain laws, demands and commands of a government,
or of an occupying power, without resorting to physical violence. It is one of the primary tactics of nonviolent resistance.'
'This American government--what is it but a tradition, though a recent one, endeavoring
to transmit itself unimpaired to posterity, but each instant losing some of its integrity? It has not the vitality and force
of a single living man; for a single man can bend it to his will. It is a sort of wooden gun to the people themselves. But
it is not the less necessary for this; for the people must have some complicated machinery or other, and hear its din, to
satisfy that idea of government which they have. Governments show thus how successfully men can be imposed upon, even
impose on themselves, for their own advantage. It is excellent, we must all allow. Yet this government never of itself
furthered any enterprise, but by the alacrity with which it got out of its way. It does not keep the country free. It does
not settle the West. It does not educate. The character inherent in the American people has done all that has been accomplished;
and it would have done somewhat more, if the government had not sometimes got in its way. For government is an expedient,
by which men would fain succeed in letting one another alone; and, as has been said, when it is most expedient, the governed
are most let alone by it.'
Homestead Confederate flag dispute dies down -- but is far from over
'Nearly a month after the Miami-Dade chapter of the NAACP issued a series of demands to resolve an ongoing dispute over the
one-time appearance of the Confederate battle flag, its leaders have been mum about the group's next steps. At least three
of their six requests have been rejected by Homestead's leaders. And it is unclear whether the civil-rights organization is
part of a mediation effort led by the U.S. Department of Justice's Community Relations Service about the Confederate flag
that was flown last November in the Veterans' Day parade that is sponsored by the Homestead/Florida City Chamber of Commerce.'
Notice how the writer of this 'news' story called the Federal flag the 'American flag' while the Confederate flag
is called the 'rebel flag'. Notice also how she claims that flying the Confederate flag 'divided the community'. Nothing biased
about this sort of reporting, huh?
'The South Carolina Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum says it has seen a 24 percent increase
in visitors from the last fiscal year. Museum officials say attendance from July 2008 to last June was 22,000 people - more
than double what the attraction was pulling in before moving into its new building near downtown Columbia five years ago.'
'The sequence was that the Soviet Union was first reformed, then transformed, and then disintegrated all within the space
of six-and-a-half years. It had ceased to be a communist system in any meaningful sense... Inside the Communist Party, vigorous
public debate had replaced 'democratic centralism'. Moreover, the basic principle of the party's 'leading role' within the
political system and society was being challenged from all sides as new political organisations sprang up... Fifteen new states
stood where one mighty superpower had recently held sway.'
No bail reduction in shooting over Confederate flag
'A judge declined to lower the bail this morning for a high-school student who has spent three months
in jail on charges he shot another teenager who was waving a Confederate flag downtown... Prosecutors say the evidence is
overwhelming, and he could face up to 20 years in prison if found guilty of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.'
While it is a good thing that this thug will likely be off the streets for a long time, he will not be forced to pay
restitution to the young man he shot. Instead, he will likely live many years at the expense of tax-payers. Where's the justice
there?
Activists on both the Left and the Right spotlight a broken Federal Government
'Millions of Americans perceive that the federal government is broken and might not be fixable. They
view centralized power as heavy-handed, intrusive – and yet useless when it’s called upon for help, as in the
aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Right or wrong, like them or not, state sovereignty activists say, “We have a solution.”
Their solution is radical local activism to restore power to citizens at the state level. They aim to make state laws that
counteract federal ones. They hope to preserve local or regional cultures against homogenization. They’re all aiming
for their idea of freedom – although often their concepts of freedom are diverse, to say the least.'
'A US missile strike pulverised a compound in a stronghold of Pakistani Taliban warlord Baitullah Mehsud
Tuesday, killing 16 foreign and local militants, security officials said. The strike, carried out by a suspected unmanned
US aircraft, destroyed a compound in the Zangara area of South Waziristan -- part of Pakistan's lawless, tribal belt on the
Afghan border where Islamist militants are holed up.'
Notice how anyone the Feds kill in the Middle East is
called a 'militant'. People who are defending their homelands from occupation are 'militants' yet the Feds who are invading
the country and killing local people are not - how ironic! Shouldn't the invaders be the 'militants'?
Confederate flag concerns prompt ACC to move baseball tournament out of SC
'The ACC previously awarded the tournament to Myrtle Beach, S.C., from 2011-13. That decision drew criticism
from the NAACP, which has boycotted South Carolina for flying the Confederate flag from the state capitol grounds.'
More efforts to culturally 'cleanse' Dixie of all things Southron. Why is the anti-Southron hate group NAACP listened
to? Why are they not ignored?
Six more Federal troops killed in Afghanistan today
Is this immoral occupation worth any more of your money? Is it worth the blood of your neighbours? It certainly
is not.
'Six US soldiers have been killed today in a pair of bombings on opposite sides
of Afghanistan. Other blasts have been reported near US bases which have killed Afghan civilians and wounded soldiers, a sign
that the ever growing violence in Afghanistan is still worsening.'
Colors with clout: What the Confederate flag means today
'Today, the flag can be found painted on the side of a barn in rural Horry County; on a bikini in the
window of an Ocean Boulevard shop in Myrtle Beach; on a flagpole in a front yard on S.C. 15 not far from Myrtle Beach International
Airport; on the forehead of a shirtless man walking on Front Street in Georgetown during the Harborwalk; at the Confederate
Soldier's monument on Statehouse grounds, where it was placed in 2000 after a compromise to bring it down from above the dome;
and on T-shirts, tattoos, bumper stickers and the minds of many native South Carolinians. Its meaning has become as varied
as its displays.'
The Yankee Problem Again by Dr Clyde N Wilson (audio)
Check out our latest audiobook piece, graciously recorded for us by the 'Georgia Lady'! In this piece,
Dr Wilson talks about the ever-menacing Yankee problem in American history. Great stuff!
'In a small bowl, whisk the egg yolks; gradually whisk in about 1 cup of the slightly thickened hot
milk mixture. Return egg mixture to the double boiler, stir in the vanilla and butter, and continue whisking and cooking until
well thickened. Remove from heat and set aside to cool slightly.'
'The most basic reason for supporting secession is that it makes government more accountable to the
people it governs. The smaller a polity is, the easier it is for an individual’s objections to be heard whether
that be through voting, petition, protest, etc. It also becomes harder for one group to oppress another the more they have
to interact with each other. Dehumanizing some distant group is very easy; it is much harder to do with your next door
neighbor.'
'Bill Clinton once felt moved to scold the people who took offense at some of the government's especially
monstrous recent crimes by saying, "You can't love your country and hate your government." Au contraire, Slick Willy.
I am living proof that you can indeed. I do so in every waking minute of every day, and sometimes in my sleep, too. To be
perfectly frank, I have trouble in understanding how any decent, halfway honest person who loves America cannot hate its governments,
inasmuch as by their laws, their judicial decisions, their regulations, and their daily conduct they prove themselves a standing
reproach to every ideal embraced by the men who shed their blood to establish this country's independence from the British
Empire. Do you recall those first patriots' declared devotion to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? Can anyone today
look upon the pack of scoundrels, liars, thieves, and (in all too many cases) murderers who control the governments of this
great country and feel anything but the most wrenching revulsion?'
'Crossroads Country Store is the kind of establishment that demands attention, bedecked with Confederate
flags and a full complement of Southern pride merchandise arranged to attract kindred spirits and provoke folks not sympathetic
to the whole Dixie thing.'
Confederate Museum to press forward despite setbacks
'Despite some recent setbacks, Museum of the Confederacy Board officials decided last week to continue
with its plan to construct a satellite museum branch in Appomattox.'
'Jim Dunbar is one of the leaders of Descendants of Point Lookout, whose members claim ancestors who
were among the 52,300 Confederate soldiers — and a few hundred civilians — who were imprisoned in southern St.
Mary's at the prisoner of war camp, one of the Civil War's largest. Thousands died in the camp of disease and starvation.
Dunbar, of La Plata, said the group decided to construct its own memorial after being excluded from events at the adjoining
cemetery for Confederate veterans and at Point Lookout State Park, the camp's actual site.'
